A Direct Books Sales Consultant promotes authors and their work to bookstores, schools, colleges, universities, churches, radio, and television producers.
Typical tasks include:
- offering advice to authors;
- advising authors on sales strategy;
- negotiating deals with, bookstores, schools, colleges, universities, churches, radio, and television producers on the author's behalf;
- sending out proposals and sample books for consideration;
- building up contacts throughout the industry;
- keeping up to date with relevant legislation, new technologies and new ways of selling books and other media products.
Job Requirements and Duties (including but not limited to):
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship in every account
- Educate customers on the features and benefits of our products & brands
- Build awareness & develop positive relationships with customers through high-quality service in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere
- Must have a computer, printing capability and internet access
- Assist with internal projects to increase and further sales, as needed
Qualifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, including but not limited to the following:
- Work performed will entail fine manipulation of hands or fingers, as well as repetitive hand action
- Experience /comfort level with electronics/technical products
- Independent and self-motivated
- High School Graduation or Equivalency Exam required. (college education preferred)
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
- Lifting objects and product up to a maximum of 40 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects/product up to 35 lbs, in addition ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
